*Before I start this post, I want to say that I didn’t write this post to inflict guilt. I know that some of you mamas are not in the place where you have the time to read through the Bible in one year. I think that you could still make it your goal to read through the Bible, just maybe not in one year. Or maybe you could take the time to study one topic in depth for a few months or even the year. I wrote this post because I think there is great value in knowing the Word of God.
This past year, I was challenged by a friend to read through the Bible. It’s not that I hadn’t done it before, but I hadn’t done it for a long time. I’ve been a Christian since I was 5 years old and I’d only done it 2 or 3 times.
Let me just tell you, “It was such a blessing to me this year!”
So, today, I want to share with you why I think you should consider reading through the Bible as well.
- Knowing the Word of God is very important as a believer
Hebrews 4:12 (NLT) For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
How can we expect to stand firm in these times if we don’t know the Word of God?
- It Brings You Closer to Your Heavenly Father
I have experienced such joy and peace in knowing Christ over this past year. Reading the Word can and will give you a deeper desire to spend time with your Father God. In fact, the more I read the Bible, the more I want to. It’s so exciting how God gives us revelation as we read more of his Word.
- Knowing the Word Helps us to have discernment
One of the biggest fears that I’ve always had, is that I wouldn’t know whether someone was of God or not. Knowing what the Word of God says will make us aware. I love that!
There are a lot of resources, like apps, etc. You can read through the Bible in various ways.
